2026 Loy Kratong Festival at Horizon Village, Chiang Mai

Overview: What kind of festival is it?; Loy Krathong is a traditional Thai festival held on the full moon of the 12th month in the Thai lunar calendar. People place candles, flowers, coins, and other offerings on small lotus-shaped boats made from banana leaves, then float them down the water while making wishes and letting go of bad luck. Celebrated throughout Thailand, the festival transforms rivers into a spectacular sea of lights, offering a truly special travel experience.

The celebrations vary by region. In Chiang Mai, where the festival is known as Yi Peng, people also release sky lanterns into the night sky. At Horizon Village & Resort, 1,000 guests release lanterns simultaneously, creating an incredible night sky illuminated by thousands of floating lights.
